The modern world is a challenging place. But we go on about our daily lives, basically pretending that all is well in order to survive with some semblance of normalcy. This series features faces and people from clip art & cartoons, obliviously happy and content in their lives, as well as images of the Monopoly game millionaire and clip art of men with money that are happy to hoard money and rule the world. Other faces include people that are screaming with fear from B-movie horror film stills, and other found sources. The images are overlaid with documents, including those covertly funding the U.S. Iraq war or calling for the Russian census to determine who will be put to death due to their ethnicity, as well as death certificates and homicide reports. These pieces explore the ideological power of juxtaposing images to create social and political commentaries, with hidden thoughts and collective beliefs exposed through the use of found elements and appropriated images.
